At noon today, our county auditor, convicted felon, Kay Rogers rode into the sunset of a possible life of incarceration. The melee for replacing her has already begun, with a hornets nest of candidates spilling out all over the place. Word has reached me that as many as 15 potential (?) auditors have contacted or will contact the party to be considered as a replacement. Of course, for those of you who do not know, it will be up to the elected members of the Butler County Republican Party Central Committee who will ultimately make the decision. As of midnight, there is no Central Committee as the party will turn over. Those of us who are unopposed already know who the players are, but there are many seats contested and until the dust clears, and the results are certified, we really don't know who's who in the zoo. Since I was fortunate enough to be unopposed this time, I know that I have one of those precious 260 votes and quite frankly, my phone has rung off the hook. I say, let anyone who wants to run, run. It will be quite interesting to see all the drama and righteous anger unfold as we try to make sense out of this clusterbomb.
